MYFOXNY.COM — Chilling images from the New York Police Department of the burning and collapsed World Trade Center on the morning of September 11, 2001, have been released for the first time. The photos were released after ABC News filed a Freedom of Information Act request in 2009 with the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the federal agency that investigated the collapse of the towers. NYPD Det.Greg Semendinger, who was aboard a police helicopter with the Aviation Unit, took the photos.”I almost didn’t realize what I was seeing that day,” Semendinger told the AP. “Looking at it now it’s amazing I took those pictures. The images are … stunning.”
