Sakara Ross made her name in Lil Wayne’s “Got Money”, David Banner’s “Shawty Say” and DJ Khaled’s “We Taking Over” among dozens of other videos. Since 2009 she has been focusing on taking it to the next level as an actress.

Sakara Ross on the challenges of being a Black woman in Hollywood..

At first I was intimidated to go into acting because of that stereotype. Then I put my fears aside and put my all into it, just as I’ve done with track. All in all, I refuse to be a woman, in years to come, saying, “I could’ve done that.” If I don’t try, I am already beat – and I refuse to be beat. I am a survivor. I have plans and I’ve set goals for myself, so I am going to soar no matter what.
