Music News: XXL Magazine Recruits Shaheem Reid & Jayson Rodriguez

Karen Civil has confirmed that two of the most respected hip-hop journalist in the game have been recruited to the editorial staff of XXL magazine. Formerly of MTV News, Shaheem Reid and Jayson Rodriguez ,or the “1515 Boys” as they’re known, are now the Editor-At-Large and Executive Editor of the hip-hop publication, respectively.

Some of the plans for the new regime include Shaheem’s own monthly video segment on XXLmag.com. Aside from his new gig at Harris Publications, Shaheem will continue to run his company, Shaheem Reid Media where he is working on producing content for TV and penning his first book.

Both of these guys are great writers whom I’ve had the pleasure of meeting through my work at The Source magazine. Although I realize the news of their new employment will make my job tougher (ha!) I still say congratulations and best of luck to Shaheem and J-Rod.
