Ronnie “Skinny Suge” Thomas (leader of the Maryland gang Tree Top Piru Bloods) was convicted Thursday in federal court of racketeering; Thomas faces a maximum sentence of 20 years which will be decided in April. According to trial testimony, the men were members of the Bloods’ violent Tree Top Piru set, which dealt drugs throughout the state and conspired to commit murder and robbery. Pride led a TTP set on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, and Thomas was a gang leader in Maryland, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

“Skinny Suge” produced and starred in the infamous “Stop Snitching” videos. Eight others connected to the videos have also been prosecuted and found guilty in federal court. Thomas’ attorney, Michael D. Montemarano characterized “Stop Snitching” as “political commentary — nothing more, nothing less.” and that his client was merely playing a role in the videos, saying, “Why can’t Ronnie Thomas get up and portray himself as a Blood or anything else he wants to?”

I been trying to explain this people for forever. The Westside of Chicago is a war zone and has always been. The Westside is literally riddled with crime, on average you can see about 5-7 kids on the corner. Gang’s such as: The Blackstones, Vice lord’s, and The Souls totally dominate the street. I usually spend my summers over on Lawndale street and over there I’ve seen some absolutely unimaginable sh*t.
