Last month, Dolla’s killer, Aubrey Berry was acquitted of all charges stemming back to a shooting in 2009 at the Beverly Center Mall in Los Angeles. DJ Shabazz, Dolla’s friend and DJ was at the scene of Dolla’s murder and recently sat down with The Source to talk about how he felt about the trial, as well as the notion that Dolla was a very misunderstood artist and person.

Whos Got Next?

After hearing that terrible Drake song released a week or so ago I lost a lot of respect for the kid. At first when I listened to Room For Improvement and So Far Gone I thought, wow, could he potentially be the next Jay? But apparently I was wrong. I mean, how do you go from producing almost perfect songs, to dropping something so watered down that it makes me wonder did the label hold you at gun point and force you to record that song. (Find Your Love)

So after realizing that obviously Drake is not going to be the one to bring back solid music with a genuine creative foundation, I ask this question, who got next? Maybe, it’s J. Cole, maybe it’s B.O.B, (sike) maybe it’s Waka Flocka? I say maybe, simply because I want to give the benefit of the doubt. But the reality is neither one of them have what it takes to be the next Hip-Hop icon. J. Cole has nice smooth music with mediocre lyrical content, but it’s nothing different from what I’ve heard before; B.O.B to me is outright horrible and I think people only cling to him because they want to identify themselves with what they think Hip-Hop is and not thinking objectively and realizing that he just simply is not musically inclined. Flocka could probably care less, plus his music is more street and riot provoking, I doubt Warner Brothers are pushing him in the Nas lane!

So with them out the way who can you really look to? And I definitely have an answer to that question—Wiz Khalifa! Why? Because I think he possesses an iconic trait that when harnessed properly by his label can really make him the next big thing in Hip-Hop. Wiz Khalifa has the whole package, The lyrics, the demeanor and subject matter. Hold up, when I say subject matter by no means am I saying that he tackles political subjects like Obama’s Health Care Reform or something to that affect, but more so the fact that he has two topics that he knows and raps about well—Kush and keeping it G! You can always expect Wiz to provide you with something that you can sit down and vibe to. His lyrics are not the most lyrical and certainly not the roughest shit you’ve ever heard in your life either, but at least you can look to Wiz to keep it player at all times While everybody either raps about: money, their love for Hip-Hop culture, women, gangs etc. Who is representing for the players? Who is actually laying the game down and telling you how you should conduct yourself on some player shit? Certainly not B.O.B.! That’s something that was put to rest with Pimp C, But it’s definitely not forgotten. So is Drake, Flocka, B.O.B and J. Cole keeping that shit player? Uh, no.

His demeanor isn’t the only thing that makes him my favorite freshman—He also isn’t bad on the mic either! Especially on the song “Glass House” where he blessed us with smooth player lines like:

“Straight stuntin, sucka niggaz I take from them—they’re bitches that is, get up in the car with Wiz!”

That is just one line amongst many that makes me choose Wiz as the next up as far as Hip-Hop dominancy is concerned. It’s not the fact that it’s ultra complicated as far as lyrics are concerned, but more so that he has the perfect combination of everything. A lot of rappers are too lopsided as far as lyrics, I don’t think Wiz Khalifa has that problem.

Being conclusive, I feel as if Wiz Khalifa is the next biggest thing in Hip-Hop for the reasons previously stated. But I want to more so open this up to a general discussion, who do you think got it next and why? Leave your thoughts below and let me know what you think.

db tupac22 Stop Taking Shit From My Site And Not Giving Props!

I just want to put this out there for the record. I have no ambitions to get to know any of you bloggers on a personal level and everyone of you that I have actually ran into in the past have been corny as hell. But there has to be some level of respect. Look, if I CLEARLY see that your site had the content first I am going to give you respect, I require the same. As much as the blogging community hates Worldstar, I have yet to hear one logical explanation as to why. I believe that the reason people hate WSHH is because they are a independent entity and this correlates to the reason why nobody ever gives them props either. RapRadar, I rock with you. Dirtyglove, TrapsNTrunks, 57thAve and ThizzlerOnTheRoof, you already know. But for any other blog that been jacking my content and feeling because I’m not in some bitch ass in-crowd that you can jack my shit, kick rocks. You don’t have to like MeetThaDealer, But YOU WILL respect us. So, being conclusive, stop jacking content and start showing love and we will be more then glad to reciprocate.

Life After Death Vs. All Eyes On Me

Pacandbig Life After Death Vs. All Eyes On Me

The other night in all my highness I decided to pop in Tupac’s “All Eyez On Me.” After running through all my favorite cuts such as “We Ain’t Hard to Find,” “Trading War Stories,” “Ambitionz As a Ridah” and of course, “All Eyez On Me.” I decided to play “Life After Death” right after.

Although I would say that Tupac all around is a WAY better artist than Biggie. I would have to say that “Life After Death” is the better album. AEOM was filled with aggression and controversy while LAD although controversial still maintained this level of elegance which I think set the standard for artists like Jay, Mase, etc. I personally view LAD as a soundtrack of a man who knows tomorrow is as unstable as trying to hold on to water. AEOM has songs that are timeless and captivating, but what it lacks and where LAD capitalized was the level of depth. There’s certain points in AEOM were I question how songs such as “Can I Get Your Number” and “One More Drink” even made the final cut. But on LAD, I can’t think of one ONE song that wasn’t completely orchestrated or didn’t serve its purpose on the album.

These are just my opinions, but technically these albums marked different periods in both their lives. When AEOM dropped, Pac was fresh out of jail and filled with rage based in his assumption that Biggie and Diddy were conspirators in his attempted assasination. Biggie centered his whole album around his final days giving LAD a better overall theme, but I would love to hear your opinion. Which album do you think was better and why? What were your favorite tracks from both albums?

Below are a handful of my of my favorite tracks from both albums.
