joya bravo Meet Tha Artist Joya Bravo

Singer/Songwriter/Rapper/Violinist, “JOYA BRAVO” is a New York native born in 1986 Queens, New York and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Conceived by Jamaican parents, Bravo’s upbringing was conservative, but musically charged.

Bravo began playing the violin at age 9. Her success eventually earned her a chair in the Metropolitan Atlanta Youth Symphony Orchestra (a highly accredited youth ensemble in the southeast region). She has performed with Grammy Award Winners The Roots at the Highline Ballroom.

As an all around creative artist, this powerhouse talent has a clear message to share with the world. She seeks to spread ideals of self-realization, collaboration and positive progression to future generations of the world through her craft. Some of Joya Bravo’s lifetime musical inspirations include: Grace Jones, Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Radiohead, Sarah Brightman, Bob Marley and many other artists her abilities supersede.

Meet Tha Singer -Nneka

new nneka Meet Tha Singer Nneka

Every year since her musical career took off in 2005, this Afro-German warrior princess has built on her successes, stretched her muscles, and widened her range. Her debut album Victim of Truth (released in the UK in 2007), an inspirational mix of hot loops, black consciousness and 21st-century soul music – was garlanded with praise by the British media. “As good as The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” said UK’s The Sunday Times.

But this time around there¹s more of the best ingredient Nneka herself. Her first US release, Concrete Jungle is a collection of songs that put the singer/songwriter at the forefront. This album is an offering of love, hope and optimism dedicated to the people of Warri & the Niger Delta of Nigeria. Holding it all together is the emotional focus of her beautiful voice, located in a place somewhere between yearning and rage.

In my opinion, Nneka is super underrated. Her voice can go up against that of Lauren Hill and Erykah Badu. Her style is still a bit different, as she is a political singer with a different passion. She says that she is trying to bring Africa to America, which is why her album cover shows a picture of the African continent, with American states on it. Check out her hit single below, ‘Hearbeat’, and her second single off the new album featuring Jay Electronica.
