nicki minaj News: Nicki Minaj Speaks on No More Sexy Dressing

Digital Spy: Nicki Minaj has revealed that she toned down her previously sexual image against her label’s wishes.

The rapper, who signed her first record with Lil Wayne’s Young Money label in 2009, said that she was keen to adopt a less raunchy persona because she didn’t want to rely on her looks for success.

“If you listen to my album, compared to my early mixtapes, a lot has changed. I mean, I really toned down the sexual stuff,” she told NME.

“There was no need for me to do it. I feel like in the past females have kinda relied on that because they feel like that’s all they have to offer.”

She continued: “I was around people who were telling me, ‘This is what you should be doing’. When you’re young and impressionable you feel like ‘Okay, you know best’.”

Minaj’s new single ‘Moment 4 Life’ is on course to enter the UK Top 40 this Sunday.

lil wayne black thumb 640xauto 283793 e1297202696969 News: Lil Wayne Never Planned to Release New Single

Digital Spy: Lil Wayne has admitted that he had no plans to release new material as his first single following his recent release from prison.

Talking to MTV News, the rapper – who will premiere his single ’6 Foot 7 Foot’ from upcoming album Tha Carter IV on the network this Thursday – explained that he would have preferred to pull another track from his last record I Am Not A Human Being rather than a new song.

“Thanks to the fans, [I Am Not A Human Being] still went gold. That’s with one video or something like that and really no promotion,” he said.

“‘Cause when I came home, first thing I was telling [manager Cortez Bryant], I was like, ‘Let’s capitalize, let’s shoot another video off of it’. He was like, ‘You know, it might be a little too late right now’. I was like, ‘I’m Wayne! It ain’t never too late’.”

He continued: “Then that’s when I recorded ’6 Foot 7 Foot’ and he was like, ‘Let’s shoot a video to that’.”

Asked for a hint at what fans could expect from the vid, Wayne explained: “I would love to tell everybody the concept, but there will be people trying to get the idea and put it out before ’6 Foot 7 Foot’ drops.

“But once people see the ’6 Foot 7 Foot’, I guarantee that it’s going to be a game changer.”

News: Black Eyed Peas Not Paid for Superbowl Halftime Show

Digital Spy: Black Eyed Peas were not paid to headline this year’s Super Bowl halftime show, it has been alleged.

The band, who grossed $81.6 million (£50.5m) from touring in 2010, will not be given a fee for their performance at Sunday night’s American football extravaganza because the “exposure” is considered enough reward, reports Forbes.

Last year’s Super Bowl was watched by a record audience of 106.5 million people and this year’s game is expected to have drawn even higher figures.

Paul Swangard – the managing director of the University of Oregon’s Warsaw Sports Marketing Center – said: “The platform that these artists are given can’t be replicated. It’s a basic financial equation. What would you have to do as a band to have a conversation with a third of the country? I think the arrangement makes a lot of sense.”

Lori Landew of Fox Rothschild in Philadelphia explained that headline acts are traditionally not paid for their sets at the annual sporting event.

“Historically, artists do not receive a performance fee for appearing in the Super Bowl halftime show,” he said. “But their expenses, which can be sizable depending on the size of the act and their entourage, are covered.

“You can’t underestimate the additional impact of all the promotion leading up to the game and the show. It’s a great opportunity for an artist to get tremendous exposure, particularly with audiences that are not normally fans.”

A representative from Universal Music Group – the parent company of Interscope, which looks after Black Eyed Peas – declined to confirm the report.

Do you even know whats going on right here?? I know the homie Punch does because I tried to quiz him and he passed his NY rap test with flying colors. Nature is one of Queens most underrated MC’s. In case you don’t know, he used to run with Nas and the Bravehearts and all that. They had a falling out when Nas didn’t represent correctly. In other words, of course Nas got big in the game, and left the hood so to speak. Nature felt Nas was phony. Now leaving the hood doesn’t mean you can’t move from the hood. Yet, when you don’t bring up the people that you used to run with, then that’s what’s really meant when people say ‘left the hood’. After all, who wants to live in the hood forever. Anyway, this record ‘We Ain’t Friends’ is off the Nature’s underrated classic album “For All Seasons” year 2000. This record is sick! I also added a bonus Nature dissing Nas record. Enjoy. -Trademarkk

getrich e1296849406748 News: 50 Cents Debut Album Get Rich Or Die Tryin Reaches 8X Platinum Mark

By Baller Status: Remember when 50 Cent signed a deal with Dr. Dre and Eminem, as part of a joint venture between Shady Records and Aftermath? Remember when he first unleashed “Wanksta”, followed by his debut single “In Da Club?”

That was in 2003, and just the beginning of what was to come for the now, New York-bred rap star.

In 2003, Fif dropped his debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, forever changing the landscape of hip-hop, and how other artists marketed themselves — controversy sells, ask Ja Rule.

He’s since catapulted himself into the business world, making a few hundred million off an early investment with Vitamin Water, and is currently taking on Hollywood. Yet, his music continues to be the cornerstone of his career, especially, his groundbreaking debut release.

According to TheBoomBox.com, next week will be exactly eight years since the release of Get Rich or Die Tryin’, and the classic hip-hop album has reached a milestone by breaking the eight million units sold mark within the U.S.

Video: Justin Bieber booed at New York Knicks game

Posted 03 Feb 2011 in Sports, VIDEOS

“A video making the rounds on YouTube shows the footage from the game, and the commentators can be heard joking about the loud Bronx cheer. The crowd erupted as when the singer was shown wearing pink glasses on the overhead scoreboard.” – CBS NY

Respect my goddaughter’s comment after she seen the video? She had me dieing after she said “If I was that close I would have thrown a pretzel at his head”. If shes not a true New Yorker, I truly do not know what is.
