Birdman is one of the most successfull and richest motherfuckers in the music business period. He took a raggedy Lil Wayne, and turned him into a bonafied superstar. The Hot Boyz got grown white men and women calling jewelry ‘bling’. Ok, enough of the praise; Birdman sat with Complex, and spoke on many topics. Take a read below.

What is the difference between the music business today and 10 years ago?

Time changes time. Everything about the game changed from 10 years ago to now. You never had none of the things that we have now, like the Internet. So many different ways for us to make money now in music. And it’s so digital. We’re a digital-driven brand, we’re an Internet brand.

We global nowadays. 15 years ago, when we first jumped on the scene with Universal, we had gotten too big as artists to be independent. But I still look at us as an indie company because we’re self-contained, we’re self owned. We came in the game self-contained, we probably the last independent label that lasted as long as it did. We our own bosses, run our own ship.

For years we did it all off our own money. [The Universal deal] was a risk from day one, but I refuse to let somebody take something that we work hard for and just take half of it. I couldn’t see myself doing that.

New Video: Mystikal ft. Birdman & Lil Wayne – Original

Posted 12 Mar 2012 in Music Video

Mystikal steps out of one expensive-ass whip and back into the rap arena as a newly-inked member of YMCMB with the first single off of his Cash Money debut, “Original.” The N’awlins vet flexes his patented flow over a beat suitable for all the spoils of moguldom that Birdman and Weezy, who appear as features, welcome him too. You might not be waking up in a mansion anytime soon but at least help yourself to the eye candy strutting up and down the marble floors for breakfast. Mystikal sounds like he’s in good form so far. Let’s see if he can keep it up leading up to the release of his LP, which is due out this summer. One Hunned *Birdman Hand Rub*

If the numbers prove solid when they’re officially verified tomorrow, TC4 will be Weezy’s third No. 1 album and he’ll be only the second rapper to go platinum on two different album debut weeks, the other being Eminem.

“The goal is to sell a million-plus copies. I can deal with it for short period of time,” he says. It’s when you have a leak out for a long time that it’s crazy.”

I dunno about this prediction. If it does happen, it will take a while before it hits that platinum mark. Then again, who am I?

drake wayne Music News: Lil Wayne & Drake To Release Collaborative Album

In an interview with XXL magazine Birdman confirmed that there are in fact plans for another elite collab album besides Watch The Throne this year. Here’s what he had to say about a forthcoming Lil Wayne and Drake LP:

“Wayne and I recently talked about [the Weezy/Drake collabo album]. That’s definitely going to get done. It’s older versus younger. I listened to a few songs [off Watch The Throne] and it feels like an older feel to me. I think with Drake and Wayne, they young. They young cats. You got 23 and 28. Then you got Jay-Z and them, who are older and really on their way out the game. Then you got Wayne and Drake and them, who are still youthful to the game. So, it’s two different types of music all the way across the board. But what they’re doing is great. I think it’s great for the game, great for the business, great for retail as a whole. I just think when Wayne and Drake get together is going to be something real special also because we more youthful.”

*Birdman hand rub* This sounds like a very promising album.
