If this ever takes place, then it will be something that many gravitate to.

“We got maybe four or five [songs] together,” the rapper said. “I just started working with Kendrick the other day. We got it in, finally, again.

“[It's gonna be an] album, man,” Cole continued. “We actually worked, bouncing ideas, which was great. The vibe was so good that it’s that’s absolutely gonna happen.”

“I’m not on Twitter no more, I’m not doing it and I’m not going to,” Cole said. “I’m sitting and on watching all these artists who I respect — some of them are big artists — on Twitter fighting for attention. Every tweet is like, I’m looking for attention. Retweet me! It comes from this place of fear, like I don’t want people to forget about me. But really, your body of work speaks for you, so it’s doing work even when you’re not knowing it. But, because people ain’t talking about you on Twitter or your mixtape ain’t trending, you feel a certain kind of way. But when it’s my time, I’m gonna load up all my clips and I’m gonna empty ‘em out.”

Video: J. Cole- Work Out (Piano Cover By The Theorist)

Posted 22 Apr 2012 in Music Video

The Theorist has given us some great piano covers in the past including his takes on “High For This” and “N*ggas In Paris.” The musician recently linked up with Xclusives Zone to present his upcoming project, Music Of The Night. He drops a piano cover of J. Cole’s radio-friendly single “Work Out” as the first offering from MOTN and as expected, it doesn’t disappoint. He does a great job of building a sound that counters the mood of the original production and yet still manages to fluidly wrap itself around Cole’s lyrics. The Theorist’s instrumental EP, Ascension , is available now and you can download it for free here.

Earlier this week King Mez unveiled the first leak off of his upcoming debut album, My Everlasting Zeal, with the J. Cole-produced “The Allure.” After hearing a few tracks from the Mez, Cole was sufficiently impressed and got in the studio almost immediately with his fellow North Carolina rhymer. The first track we get to experience from the two features Drey Skonie on the hook and packs the right amount of melodic instrumentation with confident and clever lines from the young King.  My Everlasting Zeal arrives May 15th.
