Jay spoke to MTV about the Nets logo design amongst other things. Here’s what he had to say:
“I wanted to make it really classic and strong, a throwback to Brooklyn and what we’re about,” Jay told MTV. “It’s real gritty and we’re not about flash — well, sometimes. Just the roots of Brooklyn as this very bold, strong, simple logo.
“It was really a take off the old subway signs, if you look at the old subway signs they were in black and white,” he continued. It was that strong, beautiful, iconic black and white. I wanted to pick something that would stand the test of time and be here forever.”

The king of pop(no typo) Jay Z is getting his own music festival in Philly. We all know that this is just one of the many great things that Jay will accomplish in his lifetime. The race to a billion is neck and neck when it comes to the great african american moguls such as Jay, Puff, Dre, and the rest of them.
The event is called the Budweiser Made in America music festival and will take place on September 1st and 2nd. Jay plans to do this every year going forward. Tickets go on sale on May 23rd at Livenation and Ticketmaster.
UPDATE: Jay confirmed the news during a press conference in Philly, adding that about 70% of the artists are already confirmed.

Yea this is cool.
When two Jay-Z mash-ups come in from two different sources on the same day, I take that as a sign that we need to post some Jay-Z mash-ups. At first I thought about separating these two to give each producer their own well deserved time in the spotlight, but then I figured that combining them would make twice as much sense, hopefully get each twice as many views, and ultimately cut the amount of work that I had to do in half. So naturally I went with what was easiest for me and put them together. Just kidding. I actually did this because it’s easier for you guys. Less pages to load, less things to click through, and we hate clicks too (don’t kill me Confusion), so it all works out in the end.
This first masher stacks Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s mega hit “’03 Bonnie & Clyde” up against Passion Pit‘s new single “Take A Walk”. The song was mixed by wait what, and is the first single from his forthcoming mixtape out May 21st. Just as before, it will be a pay-what-you want album, with all proceeds going towards Dave Eggers’non-profit youth writing organization, 826 Valencia.
Now when you see Jigga’s name next to The Beatles, everybody immediately thinks “The Grey Album, Danger Mouse, been there and done that”. Yeah well, this shit is different. This mash-up by The Melker Project takes a rare Beatles’ accapella of “Because” and swirls it up with Jay’s “Say Hello” off the American Ganster album to create a new version that you’ve definitely never heard before. Give both of these fine remixes a listen and enjoy the weekend!

With few exceptions, in America politicians try dumb hard to disassociate themselves with the world of hip-hop. Interestingly enough, overseas French presidential candidate François Hollande looks to be running on the cray ticket by making one of the biggest hip-hop tracks of the last 12 months the theme music for his campaign. Hollande employs Jay-Z and Kanye West’s hit “N*ggas In Paris” and surprisingly leaves all the foul language and lewd rhymes unchecked.
If you pay close attention to the video you’ll notice many shots of black and Arab youths rallying for the candidate; thus, leading one to the conclusion that this campaign strategy is catered to securing the support of France’s young people. #VoteSoHard
